HISTORY

Bird Homestead Golf Course is a dream come true for a real pioneer family. Elmer and Pat Bird, and their children and grandchildren. The Birds moved to the Funny River Area to homestead in 1959. They raised 3 children and numerous grandchildren on the homestead.

With the addition of a paved road to the area, the family decided they needed to do something with the land that they no longer raised hay, cattle and horses on. The dream of a golf course emerged. With the help of family and friends, a dream has become a reality. The dream was to make this a family affair and as you play this scenic course that abounds with wildlife and peace and quiet, you will realize that the dream is materializing right before your eyes. The men will enjoy the distances and greens. The ladies will enjoy the tee boxes that are aimed at the greens. There will be work continuing all summer on the course with improvements  every day.

The drive out Funny River Road is one of the most beautiful in the central peninsula area with a very friendly cafe right in front of the golf course.

There is a camping area available for those of you who  would like to camp and fish. There is a State fishing area within walking distance of the golf course camping area.

Several beautiful 1 acre-building lots are available for sale on the golf course.

If you enjoy the peace and quiet of the country, you will fall in love with Funny River
